Segment
of a DD250 Master
DD-Master
uses a template, referred to as a Master, to create
DD250s and other shipping documents, such as DD1149s,
SF1034s, and other custom and commercial forms. The
Master is simply a document which lists all of the items
on the contract and the quantity of each to be shipped.
Each line item is entered just as it would appear on
the DD250 (or other shipping document). When a shipment
is made, DD-Master extracts the description of each
item selected by the user.
For contracts in which all shipments will go to the
same location and mark for, DD-Master uses the information
in the Ship-To and Mark-For blocks on the Master. However,
a Ship-From, Ship-To and Mark-For address can be specified
for each line item, as shown in the example above.
- Items are shipped
by default to the address in the Master's Ship-To
and Mark-For blocks.
- Each item can have
a specific address for:
- Ship-From
- Ship-To
- Mark-For
- Addresses used in
line items can be defined in the Master or a separate
text file.
- Identify addresses
by the official CAGE/FSCM code or an internal identifier.
- Internal address codes
can be printed on the form, or partially or completely
hidden.
The example below shows how specific addresses can be
assigned to line items:
- Item 0042 goes to
the default Ship-To and Mark-For
- Item 0043 specifies
a Ship-To address (@S/T: DAAL04-D6), but uses the
default Mark-For
- Item 0044 uses the
Ship-To defined in 0043, and specifies its own Mark-For
address(@M/F: *RCV-OFCR). The asterisk in the CAGE
code indicates that it is for internal use; it will
not be printed on the DD250.
When these items are included
in a DD250 shipper, DD-Master will put the addresses
into the appropriate address blocks. The address information
will not appear as part of the item.
Line Items with Specific Addresses
DD-Master
has a number of flexible methods to handle blocks that
may need to be included as part of a line item:
- Simple Text - up to
32,000 characters of information may be entered
as part of the line item description in the master.
- Named text, included
by name, may be:
- Defined as part
of another item
- Defined in the
Definitions Section of the master (located at
the end)
- Included from
a text file
Using Named Text Blocks
The
figure above shows some text block examples, including:
- Item 0043 uses simple
text, defined as part of the item. This text can
be up to 32,000 characters.
- Item 0044 uses some
simple text, and two items, named CFC-Free and Recyc_Pkg,
that are defined below it.
When this item is included
in a DD250 shipper, it will appear as shown below:
