DD-Master's
convenient serial number editor takes the hassle out
of entering lists of serial numbers. Serial Numbers
can also drive automatic Unique Identifier (UID) generation
for both labeling and submission to the UID Registry
via WAWF.
- Serial
Numbers can be entered individually and/or in ranges.
- Serial
numbers can be imported from text files (barcode
scanners and databases).
- Lists
of numbers are organized in a compact format on
the DD250.
Serial
Number Editor
Lists
can be entered in any desired order and will print in
the order entered. The list processor will count the
items in the list and warn you if it does not match
the quantity to be shipped. Ranges can have serial numbers
up to twenty-five (25) characters in length, with the
incremented part at the end of the string. The remainder
can be composed of any other characters. For example:
WIDGET030018; 351-135155; A-020535; 01-BETA-01235.
The
Mil-Pac WASup software tries to simplify the specification
of UID data by recognizing that most companies will
use UID Construct 2, combining their CAGE code, part
number and serial number to create each UID. The WASup
software will automatically generate these UIDs when
it encounters the
operator UID: Type2, which can appear anywhere
between the nomenclature (second line) the first Serial
Number.
Example
1: Automatic Construct 2 UID
| 0001 |
1112-01-434-0001
LN-200 IMU HOUSING
P/N: 31-142
MILSTRIP: N005354281X001XXX
UID: TYPE2
S/N: 2044492, 2044498, 2044499,
2044501, 2044507
|
In
this example five UIDs would be constructed, using the
Prime CAGE code "1HLD9" (DD250 Block 9), part
number "31-142" and each of the five serial
numbers listed:
- D1HLD931-1422044492
- D1HLD931-1422044498
- D1HLD931-1422044499
- D1HLD931-1422044501
- D1HLD931-1422044507
Example
of Serial Number File
Serial
Number Files imported by DD-Master can be very simple.
The numbers can be in any order and include ranges.
The only real requirement is to preceed each section
of numbers with the Item Number (CLIN) and the 'at'
sign ( @ ).
The serial number file shown above as an example includes
more information than is necessary. The lines starting
with semicolons are comments, included for clarity.
