Vendor- Managed Inventory (VMI)
VMI and PBL are on the Rise
DoD Suppliers are increasingly accepting contracts that involve Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) and Performance-Based Logistics (PBL). The attraction for the government to such arrangements is reduced inventory costs and more structured inventory control procedures.
The challenge to suppliers is implementing an internal inventory control system that is compliant with government electronic transactions (EDI) requirements.
Mil-Pac Simplifies VMI and PBL:
- Receive and acknowledge shipping requests via EDI.
- Automatically generate EDI shipping transaction and print DD1348-1A.
- Automatically update government Inventory Records Management (IRM) system via EDI.
- Automatically responds to IRM inventory inquiries via EDI.
- Generates VMI inventory report in HTML and printed copy.
- Add DD-Master and Std-Barc for automated WAWF and Mil-Std 129 labeling.
- Integrated solution means no redundant data entry. Data flows within our software from Receiving Report to Labeling and VMI/PBL management software modules.
